The Australian Cobberdog
Australian Cobberdogs are wonderful dogs! This pure breed in development is intended as an allergy friendly and non-shedding dog having good health and longevity with an aptitude for therapy and service. Cobberdogs come in miniature, medium, and standard sizes to suit a varity of lifestyles. They are even-tempered, intelligent, and sociable. Their coats are straight, wavy/curly, or curly which are allergy friendly and low to non-shedding. As with all dogs, the Cobberdog requires moderate exercise and obedience training using positive methods as well as regular stimulation of their intelligent mind. What they desire most is quality time with the people they love- they are true companions. Each dog selected for breeding has been health tested so that the breed is as healthy as possible. The development of the Cobberdog is overseen by the Master Dog Breeders and Associates to achieve consistency and predictability in type and temperament.

Cobberdog Sizes
Standard: >20 to 24 inches (51-61cm)
Medium: 17-<20 inches (42-51cm)
Miniature: 13-<17 inches (33-42 cm)
At Hillmeadow we typically raise medium sized Cobberdogs which measure 17-20 inches at the shoulder. These dogs are small enough to pick up and cuddle, but large enough to feel like a 'dog' (according to Brad!). There should be no difference in type or temperament in the different sizes of Cobberdogs.
Cobberdog Coat Types
The Cobberdog's coat is non-shedding and allergy friendly. Coat types are still being developed, and we are genetically testing our breeding dogs so that we can acheive consistency in coat traits. In our programme, we may see straight, wavy/curly, and curly coats. To learn more about coat traits and testing we recommend that you look here: www.pawprintgenetics.com/products/traits/

Wavy/curly: coats are in between the straight and curly coat textures. These dogs have one straight coat gene and one curly coat gene. The coats often appear wavy, but can also present as spiral curls. The density varies in between dogs. Beatrix, Mizpah, Eve, Kinsley, Abi, Bliss, Thijs, and Eddie all have genetically wavy/curly coats. |
